Wow! This soup was quick and easy, and all-time of all, it tasted keen. It is very creamy with the corn starch and ratio of 1 egg per cup of broth. Thank you for a succulent recipe!
07/x/2008
Cracking recipe! The only affair I would modify is the ground white pepper was manner to much, attempt a ane/4 tsp of it. The 1/2 tsp made it a piddling too overpowering. But again, information technology does say optional. I loved the large amount of egg compared to the other egg drop soup recipes on this site.

In my mind this was just perfect, a delicious prelude to the Korean Saewoo Bokkeumbap (Shrimp Fried Rice) that followed it. (recipe also from this site) I don't know what it is, specifically, that makes this soup and so good given its simplicity, but I can only approximate it'southward the addition of the sesame oil, which I love. I prepared the recipe just as is, just mixing the cornstarch with role of the chicken goop rather than water and adding no salt or pepper. I made ii servings, ane serving each for Hubs and me, and regret I didn't brand more. The consolation is that this is and so quick and like shooting fish in a barrel to gear up I could whip up more in no time!
11/02/2008
Peachy recipe! The sesame oil that the recipe called for seemed like a lot to me so I just put a few drops in. I too don't use chicken goop (I never can go through it all in time), instead I used chicken bullion powder. Succulent!
11/19/2008
I was actually happy with what I wound upwards with. I was looking for something warm and cozy and as close to our local Chinese Eating place equally possible. This was a good pick. I made i aligning, calculation more than cornstarch considering I like a thicker consistency simply otherwise stuck to the recipe. Side by side time I am going to add some sweetcorn, like the local restaurant does merely to see what I end up with. Thanks for a yummy recipe!
11/29/2011
If you use depression sodium, no fat broth - you lot can utilize the soy sauce without making information technology really salty! My favorite way to make a meal out of it is to add together some shrimp sauteed in garlic and cabbage to the soup - filling and yummy!
10/24/2008
This didn't turn out and so well for me, and tasted kinda blah. I don't think I'll try to brand it once more.
12/17/2010
Loved it! This was so simple & quick to brand. It had improve texture than than the soup from your average chinese place. I used low sodium soy sauce/chcken goop & seasoned it with salt at the end as needed. Subsequently reading other reviews, I decided to only add together one/8 tsp sesame oil. Dried chives worked well in this soup too. I will definitely brand this once more!
06/05/2008
This was and so piece of cake to brand. I had never had egg drop soup and it was practiced. I didnt use the cornstarch or nutrient coloring and I used green onion instead of chives.
01/15/2012
I really do hate to requite recipes bad reviews, but this just didn't work out as corking as I idea it would. I was kinda of hoping information technology would be 'Amend than Resteraunt Quality' like the title said, only information technology was nothing like whatever egg drib soup i've ever had. I'k not maxim that that's a bad thing, because it definetly had a unqueish flavour that wasn't all that bad, but I was only hoping for a more authentic eggflower soup. If i made it once again I would definetly non add the sesame oil, because it made the whole soup taste similar sesame oil; so I aDDED more than soy sauce. also, more than chives could be added, and instead of white pepper, I used just plainly ground black pepper. sorry for the kinda sortaish bad review, but cheers for reading!!!!!
06/02/2008
The best tasting domicile-made egg drop soup I have had. Spot on!
02/05/2010
Very quick and tasty. The kids loved this soup. I will exist making it again and again.
02/05/2010
Wow, this soup was So easy to brand! I call back it took exactly 5 minutes to make, and it's admittedly delicious! Better than eating house quality, indeed!! Thanks!
07/20/2012
This is a decent soup. I always use one tin can of chicken broth (14.5 oz.) to i egg and one tbsp.+ cornstarch (for a preferred thicker version). As at my favorite restaurant, I add a few pieces of frozen cubed carrot for some colour.
02/08/2009
Really good recipe, I was surprised. I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfect.
02/12/2015
A little overboard on the white pepper, I'd reduce to at to the lowest degree half and utilise a tad fleck more soy sauce. I also find using just the whites of the egg provides a less chewy and improve consistency of the eggs.
02/ten/2011
I followed recipe to a T, but doubled for 2 people. I would take to say that by adding soy sauce ( i used reduced sodium soy) made the color of the soup odd, and it was just too salty. Calculation food coloring was pointless. The chicken broth adds enough table salt to this. The consistency was good. I may try again, merely omit the soy sauce all together and possibly but a drop or two of sesame oil.
05/xxx/2011
This is so piece of cake to make. I used "homemade chicken broth" from this site and reduced sodium soy sauce. I didn't take whatever trouble getting my eggs to string. I didn't have any chives simply I bet that would make this a five for sure. This would exist great on those days when you but don't feel good.
01/x/2012
I simply cooked it for my parents and they love it. It actually is just like the eatery egg drop soup. The serving suggested is tiny, I would make at least 2 servings per person (everyone was bummed when there wasn't any seconds). Also the chives aren't necessary if yous don't accept any.
12/28/2011
This was Fabled!!! I would requite it ten stars if I could. It was quick and easy to prepare and very YUMMY!
12/10/2011
Perfect and oh so simple to brand! I've always loved egg-drop soup but never quite institute the trick to make it at home and have it gustation like the eating place-until NOW! The corn starch and probably the sesame oil are the "magic" ingredients which take this up to the perfecto level. 1 cup of this is hardly enough, I doubled the recipe using a can of chicken broth which is virtually ii cups of liquid. Add some chow mein noodles on height and this is instant chinese sky at home!
12/07/2013
This recipe was delicious and then incredibly quick and easy. I made it exactly every bit written with the exception of nutrient coloring. Mmmm It was so good. I would non modify a thing. I fifty-fifty loved it so much that subsequently I ate it, I had to go back to the kitchen and make myself a second batch. I will definitely be keeping this recipe handy!
03/05/2015
This soup is perfect as is.
02/x/2011
Easy to make, Great flavor! I merely wasn't a big fan of the egg texture.
04/07/2010
Awesome! VERY easy to make and Only like y'all become at the eating place! Thank you!
03/09/2010
This was just a *bit* bland, but still very good and soothing, just like egg drib soup should be! Thanks for sharing your recipe.
02/20/2015
Based on the reviews, I adapted the recipe merely a tad. I cut the soy sauce and sesame oil to 1/4 t, used fresh black pepper and substituted greenish onions for the chives. Oh, 1/2 t of cornstarch and 1 t of water. Thank yous for posting this recipe....perfect for this blustery, chilled to the bone day. :)
02/23/2015
Here it is! And it came out Delicious! Very fast and easy! I didn't ad the yellow nutrient coloring though. Thank you!
02/09/2011
it was really practiced. nosotros used ground pepper instead of white basis pepper and it still tasted great.
12/22/2011
This got my girl'south big seal of approval. Awesome soup!!! Loved the corporeality of egg! Gave information technology five stars, though, because we like it a bit thicker so I added a bit more cornstarch (3 tsps. extra for double the recipe) and we added corn. Will definitely be making this again! Will be adding mushrooms and tofu like the eatery down the street!
09/x/2010
I really enjoyed this. I quadrupled (if non more than) the recipe and used fresh chives and light-green onions from my garden. I volition probably add even more chives adjacent time as I honey chives. I didn't measure the cornstarch so I could tweak information technology to arrive really thick. With the six eggs I used; it made a really thick soup. Perfect! Thanks Darren for a great and elementary recipe.
07/28/2011
I never realized making egg drop soup was and so unproblematic and quick. This is a wonderful recipe and definitely meets its title. I feel like it has much more flavor than restaurant egg drop soup recipes. The only thing missing was the rice noodles merely nosotros used Ritz crackers instead. :-)
12/03/2011
Very adept soup. I think the key ingredient is the sesame oil. Will make this again.
11/02/2014
I changed quite a few things to make this extra succulent. Instead of chicken goop, I used one tsp ameliorate than bouillon. If yous do use better than burgoo, I suggest only salting to taste since it has quite a chip of salt in it already. I also did not utilize footing pepper, but used a squirt of siracha (or whatsoever hot chili sauce) to give it a kicking. Then gooooood!
02/10/2011
This soup was Delish! It was easy to make! Love it! Will defiantly make again!
01/02/2012
Great soup! I love having this soup at restaurants and I wanted to try to make it myself. Followed the recipe fairly closely; i didnt add whatsoever nutrient coloring, chives, or pepper, didnt think it was needed. It still tasted keen. Highly recommended
09/nineteen/2019
Thanks for a really skilful and easy recipe. The only change I made was to use ane/4 tsp of turmeric in place of the yellowish food coloring. Delicious!
12/25/2009
Loved information technology! We have made information technology twice and both times my family went back for seconds. The only modify I made was to exit out the optional nutrient coloring. I highly recommend!
02/10/2011
this was very practiced ! i liked the taste ! (:
02/09/2011
It was tasty and it was easy to make
02/09/2011
mmm es skillful
06/01/2008
Great recipe! simply fabricated one change, added another cup of water. Overall great!
11/20/2008
Wow! This was definitely restaraunt quality! For certain add together the extra salt however.
02/10/2011
Yumm that was adept......
03/04/2011
My family didn't like this one too much. I added more than soy sauce & sesame oil than information technology chosen for to give it more flavour & the egg was very unattractive. (I wasn't certain how to get the ribbon effect, so information technology was big globs of egg.) Probably won't make this one again.
03/23/2009
Very yummy! (Used homemade chicken stock, added a chip of fresh parsley, and threw in bean thread noodles only earlier nosotros ate) Went together very quickly with few ingredients. I've never had it in a eating place only I thought this soup was neat & the fellow liked it also.
04/05/2012
Yum! Anybody loves information technology at my business firm, even the guests. I've made it a couple of times just as listed except I used olive oil in place of the sesame oil. I will be putting sesame oil on my grocery list though and then I'll have it for next time. I'g sure it will change the taste a little. This 1 will be a regular in my recipes.
02/11/2013
Great bones egg drop recipe. Like shooting fish in a barrel to make.
12/01/2010
Aside from a lilliputian likewise much sesame oil, this recipe makes a very tasty soup.
03/28/2015
Uncomplicated, piece of cake, and very tasty. I am very picky when it comes to my egg drib soup and this soup was great.
02/10/2011
Information technology was easy to make and it was really practiced.
ten/08/2009
This was very proficient. Only... I only used half the amount of pepper an it was too much and nosotros dear spicy HOT foods. The kids wouldn't consume it because it was besides hot. I will make it once again simply west/o the pepper.
02/21/2010
The only changes I fabricated was I used green onions instead of chives and omitted the yellow food coloring. This was crawly egg driblet soup. The key ingredient, in my opinion is the sesame oil. Thanks for a groovy recipe!
10/29/2010
This is completely First-class! I similar to add Tobastic Soy Sauce! YUM!
02/10/2012
Exactly as desired! We followed the advice of other commenters and halved the soy sauce. I might toss in a tiny chip of ginger next fourth dimension, but maybe non - this actually was just what we wanted, and ridiculously like shooting fish in a barrel to kicking.
09/xiv/2014
Fast and easy! I concord with other posters that the pepper is Mode as well much. I used less than one/ii tsp of pepper for double the recipe. I besides omitted the nutrient coloring as I didn't feel like it was necessary. It turned out well and I will be making this again for sure.
02/xiv/2011
Very good soup! Has a weird texture merely taste amazing.
01/09/2011
I was wanting some Egg Drop Soup, and this recipe looked like what I wanted. Wow! Awesome recipe! I'm allergic to corn, so I used Rice Flour instead, and I doubled the broth and added some udon noodles to it (which is why I added more broth). Information technology was Awesome! I recomend this!
07/03/2015
You actually nailed this recipe! Information technology was so quick and simple and came out perfect with not a single flaw. Give thanks y'all for sharing your recipe :)
12/07/2011
Thought it not bad,I precook alittle macaronie and when soup is done I drop macaronie in and makes it merely a little more filling.
03/12/2015
I accept fabricated several different egg drop soup recipes and this was the best! I didn't have whatever of the sesame oil and it turned out smashing. The only thing is I would double the recipe but only use one egg.
07/12/2010
Very easy and tasty!
09/21/2008
May cut down on the egg next time, but yum :D Makes a quick meal if yous toss in some smashed instant noodles and let it melt whilst you make clean up (with and so little ingredients, I only take to put back the soya sauce/sesame oil/cornstarch and the bowl that I beat the egg in) But I can't say if this is better than eatery quality since I accept never tried egg drop soup in a restaurant since they don't have those here in S'pore
01/18/2012
I did not care for the first batch because we institute the sesame oil to be overpowering. But maybe we just don't like sesame oil? Then the second batch I fabricated with buillon cubes because I was out of broth and I left out the sesame oil. Then it was pretty proficient! Oh, and I too halved the amount of egg.
02/28/2014
Terrific recipe, so fast and easy with everything already on mitt. Wouldn't change a thing.
06/08/2009
Simple and delish. Nosotros loved this.
10/28/2008
The best egg drop soup I've ever had! I beloved this recipe becuase information technology is so flavorful. Information technology's also very versatile I can always conform it to make it with what I have on hand. I get in very frequently because as a starving college student, good cheap recipes are essential =]
06/06/2010
This is an excellent, super-elementary, and very flexible recipe. I didn't take the chives, so used a tablespoon superfine minced yellowish onion. Like another reviewer, I used the whole recommended corporeality of fresh basis white pepper, but I would suggest halving that to 1/4t of white pepper as it was a bit overpowering for such a delicately-flavored soup. Last, I used veggie broth rather than the chicken broth. I volition be making this again and over again with all of our surplus eggs. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
02/08/2010
This was quite good, my kickoff attempt making it at dwelling house. Make sure to SLOWLY mix the egg in: I got a little overzealous and so my presentation wasn't the greatest. For our tastes nosotros added the cornstarch and salt, non pepper. Thanks for sharing.
02/14/2011
This soup was very good. Making it, it looked gross but it tastes amazing!
12/04/2008
LOVED this! Was very rich tasting and simply apparently practiced! Will make it once again, I'thou sure.
11/20/2013
Information technology was good but information technology looked awful! My husband really liked it only I would never make information technology for someone who had never had egg drop soup before information technology might scare them.
08/11/2011
Wow I'chiliad not certain what made this so much better than the other egg drop soups I've made! Maybe the sesame oil, or that I was just actually hungry ;) I loved this! I did non use the food coloring or cornstarch. So skilful, thanks!
02/10/2011
kinda spicy but good
02/28/2010
Really easy and quick!
10/11/2009
Very yummy! I made some adjustments: I added some mushrooms, omitted the pepper, and made adjusted the ratio of goop to eggs (I made 14 cups of broth and used 10 eggs). Everyone enjoyed the soup!
eleven/02/2012
This egg drop soup is absolutely great! I quadrupled the amounts for four servings. I actually love the flavor of the sesame oil. It adds to the quality of the soup. Cheers so much for the recipe, Darren. I will make this once more and once again.
04/11/2010
This was definitely too salty in its original format, and I fifty-fifty used low sodium soysauce, and merely iii/4 of a teaspoon at that. I had to add 3/4 of a cup of water to it to sort it out. Calculation chopped greenish onions is too an absolute requirement if you lot want to have the authentic Chinese taste. With my additions I would give it four stars, every bit information technology was better than most egg drop soup recipes, merely definitely needs some tweaking. (FYI, sometimes I add a dash of cayenne pepper for an extra kick, but it's not necessary.)
02/sixteen/2012
Great recipe! i doubled it and accidently read it as THREE tsps of soy sauce and 3 1/iv tsps of sesame oil and it still tasted great! didnt add food coloring - its not necessary and used light-green onions instead of chives. i omit the footing white pepper and instead let the people put information technology into the serving bowls separately - ppl have different levels of spiciness ;] volition make again. very easy, succulent, and comforting
11/22/2010
This was pretty good, I chopped up some carrots, celery and mushrooms, I didn't have sesame oil so I used olive oil.. I think the added veggies really make this soup 'pop' =) I will make once more.. with my added veggies!
08/xiv/2013
Piece of cake and tastes good, thanks for the recipe! I modified slightly using liquid aminos instead of soy and arrowroot instead of cornstarch. I besides added peas and carrots for added nutritional value. Yum!
10/06/2011
was very banal I didn't relish at all.
02/10/2011
I made this recipe in my high schoolhouse Foods class and information technology was so elementary! It too turned out very well and looked exactly similar it was supposed to. We didn't employ the yellowish nutrient coloring and our notwithstanding looked bang-up! We did use the ii teaspoons of water and it worked! Very good recipe :)
05/eleven/2010
First-class. Thanks! Just be certain to make enough for all your guests. We doubled it for two of the states and only wished we had more.... Very good, will make again.
02/24/2015
Positively yummy. Then easy to make with such a delicious result. Had it for lunch with rice crackers. Cheers for posting.
x/29/2013
This is the best soup recipe ever! my dad normally has something to say, such equally, 'needs table salt'. but he but enjoyed this one. i totally loved it.
07/xv/2010
Fantastic recipe! Cheers! I didn't apply cornstarch and I used the chicken broth cubes and it nevertheless came out great.
10/09/2012
This was great I added fried egg noodles for a crunch... Par boil the egg noodle then fry in oil. Thanks for a great recipe. :)
04/09/2018
I never post reviews, Merely i LOVED this recipe! It came out and so good, definitely the best egg drop soup I've ever had.
01/11/2011
I have had to make this twice in the last two days. My family actually liked it. I did add a little more soy and sesame oil and used blackness pepper. The first time I x3 the recipe this time I x5. PERFECT! I ever take all the ingrdients on paw which makes it overnice.
10/20/2008
I was trying to be healthier by not adding the optional salt, but information technology was a little too bland. I besides used vegetable broth instead of chicken.
02/23/2015
It tasted really skillful until I added white pepper. It really just ruined the soup. :(
02/10/2011
it was fast and easy, just not great tast :(
02/23/2015
My family did not care for this recipe.
02/13/2018
This wasn't necessarily BETTER than restaurant quality, merely information technology came really, insanely close. A lot of reviews don't make the recipe as it states, I did, and it came out wonderful. Second time around, I changed the recipe not to include cornstarch and I used bouillon (chicken) instead of broth and it still came out just as skilful. 10/10 would recommend!
12/25/2017
Fashion also salty, only non the right flavor at all. Maybe it was because I didn't make it right, simply I fabricated another version using a unlike recipie and it turned out AMAZING.
07/12/2009
This is by far the all-time egg drop soup ever! I admittedly love it. You can't become wrong with this recipe!
01/30/2012
Groovy, like shooting fish in a barrel, endeavour less starch(half) for a thinner soup.
02/09/2011
It was skillful i've had better before but this one has a overnice flavor.
