Our 7 month old sits on the floor independently for perhaps twenty minutes or so and so falls eventually. I'yard afraid that if we put her in a eatery wooden high chair, she will lean over and fall out. How well do those safety straps work? At what age did you showtime putting your baby in a eatery high chair or grocery shopping cart? Thanks!

Nosotros started doing information technology at 7-viii months. The high chair straps are usually ok, merely we'd bring a blanket forth to help prop him upwards/cushion him in the dorsum. Same deal with shopping carts, although he still doesn't like them that much at virtually a year.

We started putting DS in the eatery loftier chairs at around 6 months; he'd slump a bit and we'd prop him upwardly with blankets, merely was fine otherwise. Shopping cart we started effectually 7.five months when he was sitting improve. Now at 9.5-ten months, he's an sometime pro.

DS was sitting well by that age then he was ok in high chairs or shopping carts--nevertheless, it's less about age and more about their ability to sit down well, and babies all develop at different paces. I'd give it a attempt and encounter how it goes, probably it volition be fine--but be prepared to take Plan B. The high chairs have some support to them so baby isn't going to topple over like he might sitting by himself on the floor. I know people who prop their babies upwards in things like chairs, jumperoos, etc.--I'g not a fan of that. If it actually takes propping up, I don't think the baby is physically prepare yet simply I might be conservative on that point.

OP, does your child utilise a loftier chair at habitation? If so, a eatery high chair (even without the back similar a home version) will be fine.

For the shopping cart, I retrieve it was around seven or 8 months and I had one of those things that wrapped around the kid and velcroed in the back (bascially could hold him upward even if he flopped down).

7-8 mon. i bought a loftier chair cover that helped a lot b/c information technology took upward some of the empty infinite in the highcahir and created more friction and then information technology was less likely she could slip out/fall out. I actually didn't need to utilize the seat chugalug on restaurant loftier chairs with this method, but also practice in shopping carst

PP here. I only "propped him up" considering at that place was too much space in the high chair and if he reclined, he would've gone all the way back. He could sit very well on his own, but it was nicer for him to take something soft correct at his dorsum. He was definitely physically ready.

We started the eatery high chairs at effectually 7 months. If you lot baby can already sit down well for 20 minutes (and sits in a high chair at home), she'll probably be fine. I'd hold that 1 of the padded covers makes a big difference in filling upward empty space and providing extra support in the highchair. It was then liberating when we started putting DD in the highchair and feeding her when we went out to eat! We started eating out much more frequently at that point.

We didn't start putting DD into the shopping cart until 1 year. I've ever used the Ergo in the grocery shop, which DD loves and is happy in for endless amounts of fourth dimension, then that just worked for us. My hubby just started putting her into the shopping cart, and at present she loves it (probably because it's a novelty for her). To me, the moving shopping cart always seemed more precarious for the baby than a high chair.

Nosotros have 1 of these (http://www.itzyritzy.com/shopping-cart-and-loftier-chair-covers/) - purchased for much cheaper on a bargains website - and it's pretty bulky, but works neat for both highchairs and shopping carts.

This post reminds me of shopping with my infant girl many years back...while I idea she was ready to sit upwards in the shopping cart, she started leaning to the side before I made it through all the aisles. A brilliant and more than experienced mom suggested I prop her up with a curlicue of paper towels on either side. Information technology worked similar a charm!
